the to do list

There’s something very satisfying about crossing stuff off the to do list

A few weeks ago, I finally read The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. While I feel regretful that I never read it before, I’m feeling a renewed focus as I put the habits into practice. It feels like the biggest challenge is making sure that the stuff I’m crossing off (and that even goes on in the first place) is stuff that’s meaningful and goal-oriented rather than just the chores of household and life management. Or at least to make sure that “do laundry” and “grocery shop” is balanced with “outline mission statement” and “draft outreach letters”. It turns out that as much as I dislike “doing laundry,” it feels a hell of a lot easier to do than “drafting mission statement”. The first demands overcoming my innate laziness, the second my innate fears, a battle that’s a lot bigger.

Gah!!! My mission statement needs to be updated. I read the book 3 years ago (finally, too!), but it was valuable in helping me to realize where to place my efforts- now I don’t get so stressed about things that I really don’t have any influence over….Well done, A! p.s. lists are awesome.
